This is such a beautiful doll with glass eyes that we were told is an Orsini doll when purchased, however, we have had many kind people share that she is not an Orsini doll and cannot find any written reference to this.We paid a little over $600 for her. She has a hand painted, what we believe to be, a biscaloid head that is marked on the back 502 A. Germany, with some time of letter or number below it. She has, what we have been told, a toddler body that I believe is made out of a composition? Please forgive me as I truly do not know a lot about these dolls andbought her as a gift with the information the seller had provided.
Doll was recently purchased from a reputable seller and we have been told by seller that she is referenced in her blue book or Dorothy Coleman\'s Encyclopedia of Dolls page 480, photo 1272 but with our research, it does not match her mold number; we have also had another person reference her to Franz Kiesewetter, a German doll; another referencing a TT Orsini. All that I can really state is that she is truly an unusual, gorgeous and striking doll which has a very conflicting background. Please, please, do keep this information in mind as we are only trying to find her a good home and she is being sold in as-is condition. Just fell in love with her and had wanted to make her a gift for someone special in our family.She is 16 inches tall and has the most beautiful eyes that are just gorgeous; we were told that they are not flirty eyes; fixed. She has markings on back of her head as shown in photos. Her head appears to be loose; I would only display her safely with a stand. Note that her eyelashes on her left eye are not showing and I do not know how to handle her in order to check inside the head portion. There is also a tiny tiny little chip on the rim of her right bottom eye opening. Her hair wig is thin with some old glue residue as shown. Her body, arms and legs have some discoloring to it and also some craze or crack lines in it (i.e. front chest, sides of legs). I do not know how to tell if her body is definitely composition; it seems very light weight to me. Her dress and onesie are wonderful although time has made them discolored and there are a few random stains on it; her shoes and socks are in poor condition. Have taken numerous photos of her so please do not hesitate to write me to send more as I know she is quite an expensive doll.
As noted, this beautiful girl was going to be a gift but we just do not have doll places our here to help us fix her properly. She is just a beautiful striking work of art. She is being sold as-is so please, please ask any questions that you might have and do not hesitate to ask for additional photos. We really want her to go to a wonderful new home so that someone who treasures this artwork will take proper care of her. I want to thank the kind ers who have helped me. Thank you so much.
