A 2 7/8" tall rectangular-shaped deep COBALT BLUE colored antique American Poison bottle. This is the tiniest HALF 1/2 OUNCE size with the FULL LABEL, and still has the rubber CORK and GLASS DAUBER like the day it was made. A hard to find bottle in this small size, and about impossible to find with FULL LABEL! An early Cork Top bottle, dating back 100 years or more, a good ONE CENTURY OLD !

Bottle embossed: "1/2 OZ.", and then three (3) sides are embossed with vertical bars, 'warning' protrusions as it were.
Label reads in part: "Puretest / Mercurochrome ... Antiseptic and Germicide ... A Modern Solution for Tincture Iodine but does not sting or burn ... (side note: Baloney! As a kid growing up good old dad would dump a thimble full of this stuff into an open wound, hoping it would act as a punishment for us boys to keep us from getting hurt again, cause it burned like HELL ! ) ... United Drug Company"

Condition: Bottle is in PRISTINE SPARKLING CLEAN MINT condition. NO cracks, chips, dings, damage, etc. The label is somewhat faded and the box too has some tattering, and all of the top flaps are gone. PLEASE see pictures for better idea of label and box condition.

What a RARE find, a true antique cobalt blue American poison bottle in all this original condition.Antique poison bottles are quite collectible today as they were most always made in odd shapes or forms, unusual colors, and / or had fancy or extraordinary embossing patterns on them, (as in the embossed vertical bars or 'warning' protrusions' on this one) all things to let a user know, by sight and feel, that the bottle's contents were something not to be consumed. Also you will notice that the market, antique shops, , etc. are flooded with multiple examples of foreign poison bottles, from all sectors of the earth except the U.S.A., as U.S.A. poison bottles are scarce in comparison. The foreign bottles mainly say such things as 'NOT TO BE TAKEN' or 'FOR EXTERNAL USE ONLY', wording very similar to this.
