Wow! This is a set of 12 service / dinner plates, 10-3/8\" in diameter, made by Royal Doulton for the premium retailer Bailey, Banks & offerdle of Philadelphia. The style of mark on the back dates the set to c. 1902-1922 ~ these were the product of an era of extravagance! The design is full of intricacies, with raised paste gold accents to catch the light, and each bouquet of flowers shows the enameled texture as well. Note the widely scalloped edges with attention given at each notch with three dips in the gold trim, with a thin blue trim inside that carefully follows the contours of the gold. This blue band is repeated at the verge, above the double band of gold there. Notice, too, that the base of each plate has been gilded ~ a feature reserved for Doulton\'s finest patterns, and this is surely one of them!The center ground is a winter white, while the rims are a mild cream color.Excellent condition!Buyer pays shipping costs, which include full insurance, based on the calculator provided.I combine shipping whenever possible.
