This is an amazing piece. I have seen many sandpaintings, which are rare enough as it is because they were really mainly only made in the 60\'s and 70\'s because it is against tribal tradition to make a sandpainting permanent, as it can trap the spirits. This is why even the most intricate sandpaintings done during rituals are destroyed at the end. This is the only piece I have ever seen with another piece of Native American Artwork included in the same frame either by the Begay\'s (in my opinion the best family to do modern Native American artwork of all kinds), or by any other artists. The silverwork is beautifully done, and adds the perfect accent and \"medicine\" to this piece that made me have the heart to own it, despite the negative connotations with permanent sandpaintings. The Yei figure depicted is \"Big Thunder\" who is my personal favorite of all the Yei dieties. Very powerful and very important.
