Queen Victoria\'s bookplate in a book from her library at Balmoral CastleThe bookplate is done in a diamond shape, printed in orange and black, with \"VR\" (for Victoria Regina) intertwined beneath a crown, all above the name Balmoral. The book is \"The Parliamentary History of England, from the Earliest Period to the Year 1803. . . Vol. XVI. A.D. 1765--1771.\" (London: T. C. Hansard, 1813.)
One can find photos online of the Queen\'s bookplate from Windsor Castle, but I was not able to find an example of the Balmoral Castle bookplate to compare this one too. According to an 1898 article titled \"The Book-Plate Collector\" in \"The English Illustrated Magazine,\" \"The Queen has a bookplate for the royal library at Windsor, and another for the library at Balmoral.\"
The bookplate is in very good condition. The book\'s leather and marbled boards binding needs some work -- the spine covering is gone, the front cover could come loose, and the rear cover is loose. The textblock is perfectly clean, though.
This is a very rare opportunity to own Victoria\'s bookplate in a book from her own library!
