This is a very rare and exceptional complete SIX piece teak wood betelnut set. Expertlycrafted, betel nut sets and tools such as thishave used throughout South Asia and Southeast Asia for centuries.Areca Nut and betel leaf (along with other spices) are made chewable by pounding the mixture of areca nut and betel with a small mortar and pestle. This concoction is sometimes referred to asbetel nut.

A brass batel nut set from Indonesia, with bowl and assortment accessories. Betel nut chewing was once equivalent to afternoon tea in European countries. Betel is the leaf of a nut called areca. The container could also hold foods such as fruits or nuts.

A personal statement:

I felt that it was time for me to sit down and write down a brief (hopefully) personal statement. Ihave been selling on about two and a half years now.So, in some ways, I am still new, as I was never a seller before that, and did take about a six month break last year.I NEVER envisioned that this was what I would be doing at this stage of my life, however it is the plow that God has put my hand upon and it allows me the time that I need to facilitate for my four children at home, and my 88 year old mother that still lives in the home that I was born into and grew up in.I am blessed!

So, First, I want to share how I choose to price my items.Generally before I purchase, I do some research, even for items that I am familiar with.(poor grammer--sorry).However, even though I research through several avenues, it comes down to what is it averaging on, as that is the only place I sell .Now, between the time that I purchase and I list, the price can fluctuate quite a bit.

I buyonly things that I like or appeal to me.That is a wide range of items, but I can\'t sell what I don\'t like (or believe in).I price items generally in the mid-range of what they are currently selling for on --sometimes the lower, very seldom or never the upper.I want to be able to provide the buyer with a good product for a good price.I truly believe in the win-win point of view.However, I will not dishonor or disrespect the artist or craftsman of an item that was made in another century and era by lowering the price to a point that I believe does not respect, not only the item, but the history and the creator of the item.That is why that if you are a repeat looker at my items you see many things that have been there a while.If they have, and you haven\'t seen the price lowered, then I am not going to lower it any more because I believe it is worth what I am asking.

I have seen many times sellers that have priced something(including shipping) at a point that I absolutely know that they did not make money on it and I believe totally dishonored what they sold.Also, as this is my sole source of income, I will give something away before I will sell it for ahuge loss (I have sold things at a loss, but I do get my shipping paid for).

On to shipping, I truly try to price the shipping at what is reasonable.Before when I started selling, I was shocked at how much shipping cost.I do not try to make money off of shipping.I generally do not cover the cost of my materials (which is okay) in shipping, however I do try to cover the cost of the postage, and the fee that charges on shipping (not the final value fee that they receive, but the fee they charge sellers on the stated shipping, which is about 10%).

So, most of the time, I am within $1, of the postage and the fee.Fifteen to twenty percent of the time, I lose money on shipping.On the rare occasions that shipping is way under, I go in (without being asked) and do a partial refund on shipping.

Ichoose to add a shipping charge, instead of putting it into the listing price, simply so you can see what is truly the cost of shipping.

To end--what wasn\'t a short note. I love being able to pass on beautiful or interesting, antique and vintage pieces. I love it when someone, through response or a note , tells me they absolutely love it. I couldn\'t do this if I did not feel that in some way, I could contribute to people getting some enjoyment out of the small things in life. What I sell are just \"things\" really, but it sometimes is the smallest \"thing\" that we can touch or look upon that can ignite in us a sense of peace, satisfaction, and harmony with the world.
