For sale is a Traditional Scale NIB Breyer #1708 Snowman - Show Jumping Hall of Famer. He is the Idocus mold in a snowy white grey.

A big gray horse with an even bigger heart, Snowman rose from obscurity to become one of show jumping\'s most beloved heroes.

His rags-to-riches story began in 1956, when Harry de Leyer, a Long Island riding instructor, went shopping for potential school horses in Pennsylvania. Arriving too late for the sale, he spotted \"rejects\" being loaded onto a van bound for the slaughterhouse. Though bony, beat up and filthy, one plow horse showed enough spark to catch his eye. De Leyer made an offer, and for $80, the 7-year-old gelding was his.

Quiet enough to be a lesson horse, the new rescue was a hit with children, who dubbed him \"Snowman.\" But when sold to a local doctor, he kept jumping fences and returning to de Leyer. Recognizing his talent, de Leyer began training him for the show ring.

Soon, Snowman was meeting and beating the country\'s best jumpers everywhere he went. He\'d clear anything from a 7\'2 obstacle to another horse - and do it with care. Yet this child-friendly, 16h giant could still win a leadline class on the same day as sweeping an open jumper championship.

Snowman was champion at the 1958 National Horse Show, winning the stake there the following year. In 1958 and 1959, he was named both the American Horse Shows Association Horse of the Year and the Professional Horsemen\'s Association Champion.

\"The people\'s horse,\" he made appearances abroad, became a television celebrity, and was the subject of several books. Even in retirement, Snowman remained a popular attraction at de Leyer\'s farm, where he died in 1977. Fifteen years later, he was inducted into show jumping\'s Hall of Fame.

Snowman\'s legacy lives on as the subject of Elizabeth Letts\' New York Times bestseller, The Eighty Dollar Champion, which tells his amazing Cinderella story.

Snowman is still sealed and tied in the original box. The box may have normal wear. I noted no flaws on the horse. I cannot guarantee the condition of the boxed side. Please note that I have multiples of this model. You may not receive the exact horse pictured. You will receive a brand new in box Breyer #1708 Snowman.

After you Commit To Buy the items will show as awaiting payment. You may messageus using Contact Vendor andwe willgladly manually combine your purchases for you and adjust the shipping price if applicable. I operate 2 separate store locations: 1 store in California and 1 store in New Jersey. I can automatically combine shipping for items shipping from my California location only. Additionally, discounted combined shipping is only available if your order is combined before payment is made. If you have multiple purchases from my New Jersey location, please message me before making payment to see if combined shipping is available. Please see the Payment section for additional information.

Please note that I ship using USPS Priority Mail (the exception being oversized packages). This includes significantly faster transit time than ground mail, as well as $100 insurance and is fully trackable. Please be aware that shipping weight is rated by the pound, 1 pound + 1 ounce ships at a rate of 2 pounds. I make every effort to keep the shipping weight down but I will not pack poorly simply to save money and risk damage to the horse(s).

I pack safely and ship within 24 business hours.

Express and International shipping is available. I am sorry to say that the cost of International shipping has increased greatly. For example, the cost of sending 1 Breyer horse to the UK via USPS First Class Mail costs approximately $25. This is the very cheapest option that I have found. Additionally, USPS First Class Mail is no longer rated by the ounce but is rounded up to the next pound.

Terms of Sale
