DescriptionThis listing is for an antique bonnet that was worn with a traditional folk costume in western Slovakia, likely in the region of Piestany, Podolie, Krakovany, Pobedim, etc. This is quite an early version of the caps worn here so it might look a little different than what you are used to. There are a number of condition issues with the cap so please review the photos and see the comments above. This cap is not suitable for wear and would be best appreciated by someone who has an interest in 19th century folk embroidery and ethnic dress as caps with this type of decoration and crochet lace are rarely seen and do not surface often. Collected as an antique in the 1930s and recently deaccessioned from a museum collection. A great study piece that is over 100 years old.Please check out our many other sales from this show!
