Mintons Teapot
Made in England for
Chicago Burley and Co.
This elegant teapot stands about 3 ½ inches tall and 8 in. wide.
There aren’t any chips or grazing however, there are 2 hairlinebrown lines and a small scuff mark; I think the lines are from age.
You can see them in the photos.
It was made by Mintons in England. The stamp on the bottom
was used starting in 1902. That is when they added “Made in England”.Burley & Co. was only in existence until 1871 and then became Burley &Tyrrell. Burley and Tyrrell was sold in 1919.
I cannot pinpoint the exact date with conflicting history dateshowever, it was made before 1919. A piece of Chicago history made by one of England’sfinest!
Burley and Company alsohad there own artists on staff to do china decorating and monogramming. Theyordered from some of the bestmanufacturersof the day including Minton,Haviland, Copeland-Spode, and probably others. In some cases, they commissioneditems exclusively for Burley and Co.
