c. 1745-1785 Revolutionary War American Continental Army or British ArmyOfficer’s Military Sash.

This is an extraordinarily rare original part of a RevolutionaryWar Officer’s uniform. It could havebeen used by American or British forces during the war. It could have also been around during theFrench & Indian War. Due to thequality, it was made in England.

The red silk is absolutely gorgeous. When the light hits the fabric, it gives awonderful shimmer.

The only other example I\'ve ever seen is at the museum at Fort Ligonier.

The museum label at Fort Ligonier states: “Military Sash,British, 1745 – 1785 British army officer’s sash, an open, net-like mesh ofexpandable silk (sprang-work style), worn on duty draped over the rightshoulder, tied at the left waist.”

I have also seen examples of officers wearing it around thewaist.

I am happy to provide photographs of the museum’s sash ondisplay upon request.

The entire sash measures a whopping 117 inches long x 4.5inches wide. When stretched it expandsto more than double that size and reverts back to the 4.5 inches when let go.

Overall the sash is in excellent condition for what itis. With that being said, there are a fewholes, a few stains, etc. I’d say minorwear & tear from age & use. Pleasesee photographs for some examples.
