Antique Mid-1800s mens leather possibles bag / messenger bag / satchelcirca 1860-80, untouched.
Thick, vegetable tannedblack leather, japanned buckles, all original. 12\" wide by 7\" high and about 3-1/2\" deep, with an adjustable strap about 4\' long. One of the bucklescame off when I was using bag, must be re-attached (bag hasn\'t been used since) see photo of buckle.Leather still retains dark black dyed finish, bag itself is stiff. There is wear to enamel on buckles, leather and dyed color; there is also some damage to strap, see photo close up of strap section, top of shoulder, looks like chew marks.Other wear normal to leather bag of this age. I have never treated it with anything, since I was not sure of what would have been correct thing to use, or how to go about it. Thiswas purchased atan estate sale in Michigan about 15-20 years ago.
