HISTORY OF CHERISHED TEDDIES

The Cherished Teddies Collection began in 1992 which debuted 16 teddy bear figurines and since then designer Priscilla Hillman created many, many more Teddies throughout the years. All Cherished Teddies start as a drawing by her or her son Glenn Hillman which joined her in 1999. The drawings go to artists that carefully craft a matching figurine of cold cast resin and are hand painted with an oil-based lacquer paint.

Every Cherished Teddy has his or her own personality. They are packaged with their own number and description and until 2011 came with their own certificate of adoption that enhanced the personality in each design. Special Editions and Collector Club figurines did not come with a certificate and after 2011 for cost cutting measures they discontinued the certificates all together.

Early Teddies are sought after and will become even harder to find now that the saga of the teddies have come to an end in 2017 with Enesco - will they come back with another distributor? We will have to wait in anticipation to see what the future holds for Cherished Teddies, but know as a collector your one of the lucky ones to own these distinguished and cherished figurines from a long history with the Hillman\'s and the value is only going to get better and figurines will be harder to find. The Cherished Teddies collection is one of the world\'s leading teddy bear gift and collectible brands, and was sold in many countries around the world. The collection has been honored with numerous awards in the gift and collectibles industry.
