CIVIL WAR Model 1860 Cav. Saber by D.J. Millard dated 1862 with Initials \"J B\":
$650.00
Up for sale is an all original Model 1860 Cavalry Saber by D.J. Millard dated 1862 , and stamped with the trademark logo with the Clayville , N.Y. address . This one was truly a \" Working man\'s saber \" as I have stated before as there are 65+ blade edge nicks as found by the thumbnail test . There is a 6 or 9 stamped inside the hand guard and the initials \" J B \" are inscribed on the outside of the hand guard and there are 3 deep notches cut on the lower left of the hand guard at the start of the knuckle bow . Kills or battles - you be the judge . The top branch of the hand guard is cracked app. 1/2 \" from the quillion - it is not broken through and through - just cracked . The grip has no wire wrap left on it but maintains app. 95% of it\'s original leather wrap ( I can add aged wire wrap if the buyer desires it for an additional fee ) . On the pommel cap brim there are two Armory Sub Inspector\'s initials - C.E.W. for Charles E. Wilson - ( ASI 1846-1865 ) and W.E.H who\'s name is unknown , and inspected in 1862 only . I bought this saber to put aged wire wrap on it and to sell or keep for my collection , but this one is in to good of a condition for me to do much of anything and would be better off in someone\'s collection that needed a D.J. Millard saber in good condition that had been preserved properly . It would display at home or at the office very well . I sell and ship to the lower 48 only and this is an as is sale - so be sure before you buy ! Shipping will be $25.00 or actual cost whichever is greater . Thanks for looking , and best regards.BC
