COPPER TV SHOW MAIL FOR EVA HEISSEN NEW YORK 1864 LINCOLN CIVIL WAR IRISH COP:
$29.99

Here is a litter to Eva Heissen who was the owner and keeper of a bar (the Paradise) that doubled as a whore house in the midst of Five Points, which was the area and the neighborhood in which the show was based. Yes, it was the time of President Lincoln, and the civil war, and on this show we see the plight of the Irish immigrants. This show was a production of BBC America, and was filmed on some wonderful sets in Toronto, and yes, I had the pleasure of being part of this show as a background performer, so, indeed, I saw these papers and pages used in the normal comings and goings of daily life on the show. This letter is sealed and was likely never intended to be opened, it was simply some mail that would have been delivered or been seen on the bar or on a desk, so the contents of the envelope are likely nothing of significance, but knowing the prop people, who knows. I have no clue if the stamps are real or re-creations, but indeed, they look good! From what I saw in the down time, they used feather quills and ink pens where you actually dip the pen in the ink to write out the names and addresses on the documents.
This letter had a lot of work put into it...it has a couple of impressions on it, and it has been weathered and dirtied and it is really the best of all the work that the set decoration and prop people do. Would look great framed, mounted, etc, etc, etc...
I have lots of other items that will be going up for sale, so stay tuned!!!
And if you are looking for anything in particular, let me know!
I have included some images from the show and yes, the first two such shots of Eva Heissen...the name of the character to whom this letter is addressed!
