The sealed 8-tracks I am currently offering are vintage NOS(new old stock) tapes, i.e., SEALED, UNPLAYED, NEVER USED store stockfrom out of a closed shop which sold tapes in the late 1960s and early1970s.

8-tracks of this vintage are quite rare in this condition.8-tracks were a brand-new format for prerecorded tape in 1966. Some ofthese tapes I am offering have old pricetags on the shrinkwrap whichshow a list price of $6.98 and a retail price of $6.26, on average.Keep in mind this was in circa 1970 dollars! These early tapes did notsell in huge quantities; the format peaked, sales-wise, around 1978.These early tapes tended to get played a lot on portable players or carplayers of the day, consequently suffering a great deal of wear andtear. Add to that the typical effects of storage in a car Environmentwhen new, followed by 30 years or so sitting in a basement or atticafter the format waned, and you\'ll see why very few early prerecordedtapes have survived in anything resembling collectable condition.

Keep in mind when offerding that the tapes I am offering managedto survive without receiving any of the aforementioned wear and tear;they are still NEW despite having been manufactured 35-40+ years ago.The shop owner who had these stopped selling tapes circa 1974 and keptthem boxed up in a storeroom in an office-type building (no exposure todampnesss, hot attic storage, etc). As the years pass by, this type offind of NOS prerecorded tapes becomes more and more scarce. In otherwords, buy them now, you won\'t see them again in such exceptionalcondition! These tapes generally have nice glossy cellophane-typeshrinkwrap as well; they are factory sealed tapes from full-priceretail store stock, NOT cutout bin reseal jobs from old bargain-binstock like a lot of the sealed 8\'s that turn up on these days.

If you intend to open and play this tape, be aware that old8-tracks may have a few quirks (involving pinch rollers, pressure pads,and sensing-foil splices, to name just three). Please consult anyavailable guide pages on the subject, or do a web search, if youare not already well-versed in 8-track care and repair; the subject istoo complex to cover effectively via an sale listing. Most likely ifyou collect these to play them you are already well aware of how torestore and / or repair them.
