Anyone searching for an authentic issued Law-Enforcement emblem should first understand the respective agency, their history, and if applicable; any actual contracts held over the years with badge makers.

In other words, if since its inception, a police agency has only ever authorized two badge making companies to design their actual issued badges, and you discover a badge made by a third unknown maker, you can deduce one of a few different things. 1.)
