CHINESE HAND CANNON TOP 18TH CENTURY OR EARLIER
I recently purchased at sale from a Connecticut collection several antique military artifacts. This 18th century or earlier Chinese hand cannon is from that grouping.It is 9 1/2\" in length with a square opening of 3 1/2\" in diameter. The hand cannon is designed to have ignited powder drive out small iron spikes; one from each of the hand cannon chamber.
The Chinese hand cannon top shows wear and use; I would place the condition as good given its age which I place as 18th century or earlier, perhaps a good deal earlier. There is a lot of surface \"grunge\" that can be cleaned up well but I leave that to the high buyer as some collectors wish to have items in their collection in the original condition rather than cleaned up.
