This isan impressive group of 1-1/4\" celluloid pins from the late-1890s. Each features a position player depicted along with a commercial message forStrohecker & McDermid, Charleston, SC (and in one case Killins SportingGoods). Four have very fine paper inlays in the backs: Pitcher, First Base, Eachhave metal inserts in the back from which the pin extends, and never had paperbackings. Includes: Third Base, Second Base, Catcher, Center Fielder, RightFielder and Pitcher. All made by the St. Louis Button Co. Ratherconsistent group that is mid-grade due to modest typical surface aging butwhich concedes no drastic flaws. Overall EX.
