This large antique (circa 1900\'s) Winchester \"Blue Rival\" shotshell box is a rare find. This now-empty box originally contained 100 10-gauge paper shotshells that were already primed and ready for loading. They were intended for black powder use which was still very common at this time when \"nitro\" powder use was just becoming the new standard. As you can see on the front label, it had provisions for both nitro and black powder and Winchester would line-out whichever powder type it was not intended for. This box had a very clean and professional look to it and typifies the labeling that Winchester used at this time. The box itself is in great shape structurally with nice corners and no tears. The label itself still presents nicely with clean lines and no ink bleeding. The label has some minimal discoloration/staining typical of an 100+ year old box, and it is worse in one spot in particular that starts at the top left of the end panel and wraps around to the bottom (there are close up pics of this area). As I mentioned before it is a large box, measuring 8.5x8.5x3 inches and the pictures provided contain a picture of it beside a standard shotshell box for scale. Winchester is one of the classic American gun and ammunition manufacturers and they hold a special place in our history. It is because of this legacy that Winchester advertisements and ammo boxes are very collectible, and this particular box is one that is very rarely encountered today in any condition. This box would be a centerpiece to any antique shotshell box collection or a perfect display piece for your gun room or home.
