Exceedingly rare original civil war ambro or dag of Union soldier holding his hardee hat rarely seen in photos. This fellow is from the Black Hats also known as the Iron Brigade that fought courageously in the Gettysburg campaign from Fredericksburg to Antietam to Gettysburg and West. The hardee hat he’s holding would indicate artillery and the 6th Wisconsin of the Iron Brigade comprising around 1600 men. These brave souls fought in all major battles and suffered huge losses. It is housed in its original leather case with original latch. Leather shows normal wear but this is in amazing condition and the image is museum quality crisp. None rarer or finer.
