The image is aninth plate size ambrotype of a confederate soldier.He holds a Bowie knife in his lefthand.Ihave removed the mat and preserver in one image to better show the entire picture.There are gold tinted metal buttons on the jacket front and collar and a tinted metal belt buckle.. There are no emulsion defects or cracks to the glass plate. The image is housed in a thermoplastic case Berg @3 3-347 as illustrated in his beeok Nineteenth Century Photographic Cases and Wall Frames. The case is in perfect condition except for a tiny chip at the clasp.
