Lt. Coffin was severelywounded in the head during the Battle at Tulifinny Trestle, SC on theCharleston and Savannah Railroad, December 7, 1864. He surrendered, was takenprisoner and later paroled at Augusta, GA on May 18, 1865 (surrender of CSAGeneral Johnston\'s forces at the end of the war).
