Confederate Civil War usedlight artillery sabre made by Thomas Griswold and Company, New Orleans, Louisiana, circa 1861 to 1862. Original wire wrap but most of the leather has long been worn away. Interesting notches carved in upper guard as shown as well as an \"X\" on the pommel cap, maybe a crude rendition of the Confederate Southern Cross Flag. Crisp markings as shown. Turned up in an estate sale in the Richmond, Virginia area a few months back. Honest and dead real Southern sword!
