An original Civil Warletter including the cover dated August the 23 1862 from Camp Stanton Virginia. The letter and cover have patriotic images.This letter was written by Warren McWilliams who was in the 123rd Pennsylvania. I currently have another letter listed that was written by this soldier. The cover has the send to address of Natrona Pennsylvania. Some of the writing is hard to read I translated the best I could. The letter reads:

Dear sister i take this opertunity to rite a few lines............got in haris burg on thursday mornig and left on thurs day eavening and past through baltimore friday morning an left thair the saim day and got into camp the same day we past through washington city on our way to the camp we are all well.......Direct to the 123 regiment Co f in care of Captain Boyd Cornal Clark.........brother Warren McWilliams

Theletter has wear and stain marks, the cover has some wear.
