original Civil Warletterdated Apr 11 62. This is a letter written to a soldier by his Aunt.Some of the writing is hard to read I translated the best I could. The letter reads:

Dear Nephew

I received your welcome letter..................Allen Freeman has come home sick........& Allice Brown was shot at Winchester Battle & Buried on the Battlefield he sais there have been several brought there that died with sickeness wel they died in a good cause I think our army are doing a great & noble work I think they will conquer in the end we might as wel all died as to loose our government but I hope & pray that this unholy war will soon ceace & that peace may again be restored..........we see buy the papers that your Reg have ben ordered to Pea has wear and stain marks, there are split marks, and some areas worn you have any questions feel free to ask. Thank you for looking. Please note I list new items every week.
