original Civil Warletterdated Windham Augst 21, 1863.Some of the writing is hard to read I translated the best I could. The letter reads:

My Dearest Millie

Mary came home from Newport wednesday night..............he also wants some new calf boots, we shall be pleased to see you tomorrow night or if it is not convennient for your folks to let you come then do so & next week saturday as if he goes back to his Regt cant get an extension of his furlough or a discharge................we shall all be very much pleased to see you, you can tell them to your only brother also from the army on sick leave whom you have not seen for 2 has wear and stain you have any questions feel free to ask. Thank you for looking. Please note I list new items every week.
