A remarkable set of letters regarding the death of Private Lucien Rouse from the village of Warren. There are a total of 6 letters, most with original envelopes and some with the stamp. The following is a brief description of the content.

1) December 1 1862 - letter from Lucien to his family back home. All sounded well.

2) January 7, 1863 - letter from Asst Surgeon to Lucien\'s family warning them he has come down with typhoid and may not survive.

3) January 8, 1863 - letter from Chaplain Jonathan Wainwright to Lucien\'s family informing them of his death.

4) January 8, 1863 - anonymous letter from a friend to Lucien\'s family

5) January 9, 1863 - letter from Capt Gad Smith to Lucien\'s family expressing his sorrow.

6) January 22, 1863 - letter from P. A. Palmer to Lucien\'s family expressing his sorrow.

On one of the letters the ink is badly faded, but still fully readable. The rest are in very good shape. In addition, a typescript for each letter is included. The set would suitable for a museum.
