Description:
Thisoriginal woodblock print titled \"Dawn At The Chuck Wagon” was done
by the late Craig Sheppard,a real life cowboy and artist.
Thewoodblock was printed on brown paper and measures approx.. 10\" high x 12\" wide.
It has been archivally matted to18” x 20” overall.
The piece is pencilsigned “Craig Sheppard” in the lower right margin
and titled in the lower leftmargin. There is toning to the margins,
but overall it is in good vintage condition. Please view all 12 photos.
Notes:
CRAIG SHEPPARD (1913-1978)studied at the University of Oklahoma
and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts inPainting as well as a Bachelor in Sculpture.
He was an instructor at the University of Oklahoma (1939-40) and then atMontana State College (1942).
In 1947,he joined the Art Department at the University of Nevada and is credited withenlarging
and improving the art department programs. Sheppard was a member of the Pacific ArtAssociation,
the Western Association of Museum Directors, the Nevada State ArtsCouncil, and the Nevada Art Gallery.
