Very rare divided table and/or wall box. The box has 2 dividers that are mortised into the front and back boards. The box was constructed using dovetails and early cut nails. The lid is fastened with early wire snipe hinges. The back board is scroll cut forming what appears to be stylized facing doves with a hanging hole. Boxes of this type held spices for table use. The box is 12 x 5 7\" tall and is Pine. The condition is good with minor age cracks in the base board and shrinkage. The box retains its beautiful natural patina that it has acquired of the last 200 plus years. This box dates to the 18th century.Payment is expected within 3 days of close of sale.
