This late 19th century, stunning, Stoneware Lamp Base wasmanufactured by Doulton Burslem and made in Burslem, England ....This rare and exquisite lamp base features decorative vivid cobalt blue and white pictorial scene with scrolling floral transferware border design to compliment the romantic scenes which date 1890-1910...

This serenade pattern emulates a romantic scene, the subject of one of his paintings. The main bulbous area features a musical serenade scene of a man who plays the mandolin while one is observing to two lady suitors who sits near his feet. The base area shows in the other scene the suitor is standing and she rests the mandolin while another man is waiting his turn with another mandolin.. All is done in the mystic flow blue process, which imitates a purity of color and style..

The lamp base measures approx.10.25 inches in height - 5 7/8 inches top rim exterior diameter - 5.25 inch interior rim diameter and 7.25 inches from two farthest base feet.
