This is Department 56 Snow Village, Shelly\'s Diner. The identification number is 56.55008. PLEASE NOTE THAT I WILL NOT BE INCLUDING THE AC POWER ADAPTER AS THERE WAS A RECALL ON IT FOR FLAMMABILITY. NO EXCEPTIONS. A REPLACEMENT AC POWER ADAPTER CAN BE PURCHASED FROM THE DEPT 56 WEBSITE FOR $19.90 INCLUDING SHIPPING. According to the website, Dept 56 retailers will replace it for free, but I made a couple calls and did not have success with that.
To simply show that the set lights-up, I used the faulty AC Adapter for photos. Again, the AC adapter will not be included in this listing though. When lit, the lights in the letters \"N\" and \"E\" are not quite as bright perhaps as the other letters in the word, Diner. I took a couple of photos of the set lit-up to try to demonstrate this. The set contains two pieces, the Diner and the sign for the diner. The regular power cord that is inserted into the base of the Diner is included in this listing. There are also a couple of spare bulbs and a tiny metallic piece inside a tiny plastic box (which must be some sort of spare part as well). Photo # 12 shows the cord and parts being included.
Regarding the pieces, there are no chips or cracks. There are the occasional scratches into the paint or plastic. There are occasional discolorations and occasional places where the paint is thin or rubbed off in appearance. In photo #7, you can see on the backside of the diner that there are some scratches into the metallic-appearance area. There is also a long white strip of discoloration running down the very left side of the metallic appearance area. You can see these spots in photo #7. The trees on the light-up diner sign are a bit misshaped. You can see in photos what I mean by the trees not being perfectly shaped. They may be a bit misshaped due to how they were sitting in the storage box, but I am uncertain. There are loose glitter pieces in the box and on the Diner as the glitter falls off the red bows. In close-up photo # 11, you can see some scratches on the plastic windows of the Diner. There are also some smudges that appear dirty on the window. The smudges appear to be on the inside of the windows, so would need a special tool or brush to clean them. Overall, this set appears to be in pretty nice shape and lightly used.
Regarding the box there is some expected wear with some folds, creases, and small tears. You may note that the box with this Shelly\'s Diner set is different than the other boxes that I see out there. It does not have the blue Department 56 sign in the upper left corner for some reason. The styrofoam has some expected wear with discolorations, a dirty appearance in some areas, indentations, and some small missing chunks of styrofoam.
Shipping gets expensive on this piece because it is oversized. It is about 17 inches in length, so needs an oversized box. Shipping is calculated to be slightly below actual cost to me. I am passing on my shipping discount to the buyer, but just know it will be an expensive box to ship. I have included a few options for shipment. PLEASE CHECK the price of all options, as the cheapest method always varies based upon the destination address. Sometimes USPS Priority Mail is cheaper than the economy options. FedEx does not ship to PO Boxes, so if you want a PO Box delivery you must choose an alternative choice.
