History of Department 56 Villages & Accessories:
One Christmas evening, a group of friends set off to enjoy a dinner of celebration at a small country inn nestled in a quiet river town. As they rounded a bend in the road, they saw the small, old-fashioned village decorated for the holidays.
The lights, like fairies, glowed and sparkled amid the freshly fallen snow. All evening, the conversation was full of Christmas memories and the visions the tiny town had evoked. Amidst the jovial banter and magical memories, the idea for a lighted Christmas village was born. That spark of an idea became a reality when, in 1976, Department 56 introduced a series of six hand-painted, ceramic buildings. The rest is history.
Extensive research contributes to the charm and detail of each piece. Cast into the mold is the Department 56 logo - A guarantee of authenticity. Every year pieces are retired from production and the molds broken. This limits the number of pieces and allows for new additions.
Over thirty years ago, Department 56 began as part of Bachman\'s, a premiere retail florist in Minneapolis. Bachman\'s used a numbering system to identify each of its departments. The number assigned to wholesale gift imports division was, you guessed it, 56.
Now headquartered in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, Department 56 has become a leader in the giftware, collectibles and holiday decorating industry and is best known for they\'re hand-crafted lighted villages, Snowbabies? figurines and extensive lines of holiday and home decorative products.

Shipping Policy
FREE Shipping may be offered on special promotions or sales and will be sent via USPS , FedEx or UPS, depending on the destination, size, and weight of the shipment. Items usually ship in 1 full business day after order placement and average delivery times are 3-8 business days. Orders are shipped on business days only. Business days are Monday-Friday, excluding federal holidays within the United States. Upon shipment of your order, you will be emailed a shipment confirmation with a USPS. FedEx or UPS tracking number. We offer FREE Shipping within the 48 contiguous United States only on special promotion or sales.
Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico, APO/FPO and sometimes PO Boxes may require additional charges for shipping, and will be determined on an Individual basis.
International Buyers will use The Global Shipping Program
USAunique may have free shipping on special promotions to the Global Shipping Facility, located in Erlanger, Kentucky. Costs from the Global Shipping Center to your location, which include Import duties, VAT, taxes, and other charges will be the Buyer\'s responsibility and will be handled by International shipping experts, who will manage the international shipping and customs process and send the item to your location.

Return Policy
We hope that you are fully satisfied with your purchase, however, if you are not satisfied for any reason, you may return new, unopened items, in their original, factory-sealed packaging within 30 days of delivery for a refund. Even though we offer Free shipping, the cost for shipping the item to you was included in the original purchase price and it will not be refunded. Your refund will be the original purchase price, minus the actual cost of shipping the item to you. If the item has been opened, we will not be able to process the return. You must also agree with \'s request for mutual cancellation of the transaction to avoid an unpaid strike due to the refund. All returns must be authorized by us before items are shipped back.
