Derrière leMiroir (DLM) was an art magazine published between 1946 and 1982 by the Frenchpublisher and gallery owner Aimé Maeght of Galerie Maeght, which for many yearswas the most important gallery in the world for contemporary art.

There were atotal of 253 editions in 200 volumes. The magazine, itself designed as an artobject presented in a large (11” x 15”) format, is illustrated with originallithographs as well as a number of reproductions. Poets and writers likeAragon, Beckett, Char, Eluard, Prévert, Queneau, Reverdy, Sartre, contributedwith unpublished texts. Most of the major artists of the second half of thetwentieth century created lithographs for DLM: Léger, Miro, Calder, Tapies, Chillida,Braque, Matisse, Giacometti, and above all Chagall. .

The edition of Behind The Mirror, DLM, accompanied eachexhibition of the Galerie Maeght in 1946 to 1982. DLM, as it is published forover thirty-five years, was born from the passion of Aimé Maeght to edit andpress.DLM was mailedindividually to subscribers (which seemed almost from the first to includelibraries and museums) and the gallery’s collectors.
