A beautiful E. Brain FOLEY CUP & SAUCER decorated in BOLD PINK with Multi-Colored FLORAL SPRAYS & GOLD trim, pattern #VC98, Circa 1930-1936 from Fenton, Staffordshire, England

Robinson & Son formed Foley China Works in Longton, Staffordshire, UK in 1881, subsequently Elijah Brain became a partner. In 1903, the company became E. Brain & Co., Ltd. with Elijah and his son William Henry Brain continuing to use Foley China as a tradename. The company used the Foley China name in Fenton, England for 60 years until 1963 after having purchased Coalport in 1958 and deciding in 1963 to use the better known Coalport tradename. Family control of the business ceased in July, 1967 when Josiah Wedgwood & Sons, Ltd. purchased it.

The EB Foley (E. Brain & Co. Ltd) mark on the bottom of these is from This mark was used in the 1930-1936 time period.

This superb quality decorative cup & saucer have the floral sprays pattern of multi-colored flowers with green leaves on the inside and outside of the cup and the well of the saucer. The saucer and the inside of the cup have a bold pink band that is over an inch wide. This is really striking. There is gold trim on the rims, foot and handle.

While this cup & saucer set is classified as used, we can find no utensil wear, defects or damage. There appears to be absolutely no wear to the vivid color and no crazing. There are no chips, nicks, cracks, hairlines, scratches, rubbing or repairs to this stunning set. Refer to the photos to assess the condition for yourself.

The saucer has a diameter of 5 5/8\" and a height of 3/4\". The footed cup has a diameter of 3 3/4\" and a height of 2\".

As collectors ourselves, we tend to be very picky and find it necessary to point out anything we see. We believe you will be very satisfied with this decorative & functional cup & saucer set.
