Up for sale at the Grand Antique Malllocated in Cincinnati, Ohio is an early etching by the famous artist andoriginal Rookwood signer, Edward Timothy \"E. T.\" Hurley(1869-1950) and created in 1917. Signed and dated lower right. Etching based on original sketch from April 1895 (sketch signature HURLEY 4-95).E. T. Hurleywas born in and earned degrees from Cincinnati, including Xavier University and the Cincinnati Art Academy, where hestudied with Otto Beck and etcher Frank Duveneck.

Like a number of other Cincinnati artists, E. T. Hurley worked as a designer and landscape painteratRookwood Pottery. He won a gold medal for his design at the St. Louis World\'s Fair in 1904. He married artist Irene Bishop in 1907.

Hurley exhibited his etchings throughout the US, including the Herron Art Institute, Art Institute of Chicago, the Corcoran Gallery and the National Academy of Design.Theauthor of books on the subject of Cincinnati, E.T. Hurley wrote and illustrated, among others,Familiar Scenes in 1937, andMemoriesin 1943.
