EARLY 19C ANTIQUE MAORI CARVED WOODEN WAHAIKA CLUB W/ TIKI FIGURE No Fijian Ula
I will be selling a very large number of interesting antiques including Tribal art, Chinese, Japanese, and European antiques. I will possibly be selling over two days so please check again on FRIDAY as there may be more pieces for sale. PLEASE NOTE: This sale is in GB Pounds Sterling.

This is a superb and quite rare antique Maori wahaika dating, I believe, to the early 19th Century. It is almost identical to an example in the Museum of New Zealand which they roughly date to c.1800. Here is the link to the museum's example: . I believe the earlier Maori pieces were typically simple and not over embellished and this wahaika is no exception with a stylised Tiki figure and plain polished blade. It has a great patina and is in fantastic condition and would make an essential addition to any collection of Maori art.

Please read down the entire listing for Dimensions, Condition, Postage & Payment Details - most of the information you will need is here on this page but please get in touch if you don't find what you are looking for. Condition & Dimensions Very good overall condition. Tight age lines, a chip to the inside leg of the Tiki figure and other light surface wear as photographed but no serious damage and no repairs.

It is about 13.3" / 34cms long.

Postage & Packing For your peace of mind and mine items will be sent fully insured. I will be posting from WEDNESDAY 27TH MARCH so please make payment as early as possible. PLEASE be a little patient with the post - I will get them posted asap but I work on my own, often have a fair amount to post and I do pack carefully. I also post in the order that things are paid for.

Any delays by the postal services either at my end or abroad are rarely my fault. I always post out at the latest 3 working days after receiving cleared payment but sometimes an item is slowed up by a backlog of post or delayed whilst being processed through customs. To give you an idea it generally takes about 3-7 working days within Europe and 9 - 14 working days to the U.S. / rest of the world. If speed is of the essence then I can use a courier (DHL / FEDEX etc.) but prices for couriers start at around £30 / £40GBP for the very smallest object and VERY quickly escalate depending on size, weight and destination. Please note also that there has been a considerable hike in postage prices by the Royal Mail this year. I add on very little, often not enough to cover the packaging materials, so the price I quote really is as fair as possible.

UK: 1st Class Recorded Delivery (insured to £50 only): £4.65 GBP.

UK: Special Delivery: £8.55 GBP.

Europe: Royal Mail Signed For Airmail: £14.17. This figure includes £2.60 for insurance over £50 GBP. This is a signed for service which offers full or limited tracking (depending on your country).

U.S. and Rest Of World: Royal Mail Signed For Airmail: £19.17 GBP. This figure includes £2.60 for insurance over £50 GBP. This is a signed for service which offers full or limited tracking (depending on your country) and insurance. Please do not ask me to falsify customs documents, thank you.***Any import duties or taxes applicable are payable by the Buyer. Please enquire with postage queries, requirements or any other questions you may have prior to offerding.*** Where possible I will of course combine shipping for multiple purchases (however if, for example, you win a walking stick and a box of some description this wouldn't be very practical!).

Payment Details (Important: Please Read) UK: PayPal.
Rest Of The World: PayPal only.
In the event of a recorded/traceable and insured item going missing in the post I will do everything in my power (provide proof of postage and evidence of value, etc.) to assist in obtaining a full refund from the postal service involved.

***Finally, thank you for taking a look at my sale and please have a look at the other antiques I am saleing this week including a rare Native American Indian Northwest Coast grease bowl; a very fine and early Maori wahaika club; several very fine Chinese jade carvings; some rare Zulu knobkerries and staffs; some good pieces of treen including figural snuff boxes and fine coquilla nut carvings; Tibetan silver cups; Iroquois and Plains beadwork; a very fine Derbyshire bluejohn vase; rare type Zulu snuff spoons and combs; Napoleonic prisoner of war domino boxes; a superb and large Huron quillwork / moosehair on red trade cloth box and many more interesting antiques from around the world.***
