Serial Number: 2,038,649. Circa: 1887.

THANK YOU for considering our clean, complete and early but currently non-running Elgin 18 size, open face, 11 jewels, Model 1, Grade 13, Class 5, full gilt plate, key wind, key set movement and original dial. This fine antique watch movement is in excellent overall working order and probably just needs a cleaning and an oiling. Its balance staff is sound and when spun it roars to life with a dead flat and true balance wheel motion that has a fine, wide arc. The hairspring looks fine. When I got this watch it still had some winding room in the spring and I would it tight but couldn\'t get it to go, so we can assume the mainspring is sound - although it may be \"set\" (but doubtful - takes a #5 key). Appearance-wise this movement is looking great, with bright, unstained and unfaded full gilt plates, bright clean \"free\" regulator and index, handsome blued pillar screws, and very well taken care of over these many, many years! The dial is single sunk enamel, Roman numeral with the classic \"railroad track\" minute chapter, pretty much mint except for a few edge chips. The movement and dial show very minor and ordinary wear with no signs of abuse! It will be a great acquisition for the lucky top buyer!
