A greatly over-sized Hallmark store display rendition of the very popular Hallmark Light & Motion 1986 Christmas Ornament \"Village Express\" QLX707-2. This exclusive, rare and very large display piece measures approximately 18 inches in diameter. This fellow is BIG!!! Was only available one each to every Hallmark Store nationwide for the 1986 Christmas Season.VERY RARE and HARD TO FIND...NEARLY 30 YEARS OLD!A \"MUST HAVE\" FOR ANY Christmas DECORATING FANATIC!!!Hangs from a simple metal brace on top like a typical ornament.Runs on two D-cell batteries. Tested and runs well. Takes the train about 3-4 seconds to make one complete circuit around the track with the set we used. Battery compartment is perfectly clean. Electric motor and gearing is strong and smooth and housed in the crown of the display. No ON/OFF switch, you have to pull a battery to stop the motor.Motion only, no lights were ever built in to these displays.The train runs smoothly and freely around the circuit and cleanly through the tunnel openings. NO rubbing or binding whatsoever. There is a slight but noticeable gentle sway as the train moves around its circular path.Some minor scratches to the clear front surface of the display is indicative of the age of this piece and does not detract. Very difficult to make any of them show up in the listing photos. But in interest of full disclosure they are there.There is a small dent in the rear of the display that we managed to pop half way back out. (please see photo) It will probably take disassembling part of the ornament edge to get a stick or dowel rod inside to work it the rest if the way...if desired. From the front side though it does not detract.Please examine the photos carefully. They are part of the item description.Photos in this listing are of the actual item you are purchasing.Plastic appears to have made its way through the years in good condition. I see no warpage or crazing. Plastic is a consistent color throughout. (please see photos).Colors of train, viaduct and village background still appear vibrant and saturated.Paper crown on top has some wrinkling where it extends above the top of the stiffer backing. This may be trimmed or left as is. Most people don\'t notice it since they are instead studying the action inside. But again in interest of full disclosure please do take note.SOLD AS ISDisplay has always been kept by me in a climate controlled Environment since being received from the dealer after the display came down.I am a Hallmark Keepsake Ornament collector since the mid-1970\'s. I am as interested in seeing that this rare vintage display reaches you in good condition as you are.Will be packed carefully, well padded and double boxed for protection.
