My grandmother was a local Utah artist from the 1950s through the early 2000s and would travel around participating in art shows. She never purchased art, but would very frequently trade with other artists. She met and knew Bustamante and traded one of her pieces for this bird. I do NOT know the exact date, but it had been in her possession as long as I can remember and is very likely from the 1960\'s early 1970s. She had it displayed in a curio cabinet for the last 40+ years.
After my grandmother passed away, I inherited a number of her traded art pieces from her estate and this was among them. We have not displayed it, and will likely not, so I am putting it up for sale. I have spent hours researching it and have not found another one like it. It is signed by Bustamante on the bottom, but there is no date, location or number. More pics can be provided, just be very specific when you ask.
It is in great vintage condition and displays very well. It has some minor cracking in the varnish and a tiny green spec of paint on the tail that I\'m not sure was intentional. The nest is a bit dusty because I do not know how to clean it properly and don\'t even want to try if I did. Please see pics with the ruler for sizing info. It is roughly 4\" tall and 6\" long.
