EXCELLENT LARGE 18TH EARLY 19TH C HOSHIARPUR ANGLO INDIAN INLAID BOX:

PLEASE SCROLL DOWN FOR PHOTOSThis is a wonderful Anglo Indian box probably made in Hoshiarpur in the late 1800\'s. Made from a dense hardwood which I presume is sheesham wood and inlaid with what appears to be bone. It is an exceptionally good example. Please compare this with similar boxes on and you will see it is of a much earlier type to those available. Please see photos.It is a lovely thing and in very goodcondition for its age with just minor losses. It stands on 4 feet and has it slid inlaid. Inside there are boxed compartments, one is removable to give access underneath. Uncleaned. It measures 7.5 inches tall and is 16 inches long and 11.5 inches deep.
