You are offerding on an exceptional 19th century carved wood Santos of the Virgin Mary. It measures approx. 21 inches tall. The base is made of three pieces and is approx. 6 1/4 by 6 1/4 inches square. The figure off the base is approx. 16 inches tall.

This figure is quite unique in the way it is decorated I believe. The Virgin is draped in a cloth with gold stars on a blue ground on one side and red on the other side. She is finely carved perfect proportions and beautifully draped clothing. Under the Virgin there are three angel ? heads and a pair of horns ? on either side. Her eyes appear to be glass and she has very finely painted eye lashes. Around her neck is a beautifully carved rosette. Her cloak is decorated with gold leaf designs.

CONDITION: Fair to good. There is loss to the surface in many places and some touch up here and there, mostly to the base, but overall she is in a great state of preservation. She is missing her hands and there is a missing piece from one of the red mask like decorations on the upper part of the base. I have included quite a few photographs and they show the figure from many angles. There are more photos below so please scroll down and examine them all carefully.
