This is an exquisite, unusual large 19th century Regency chenille silkwork & ribbonwork panel worked on medium weight silk velvet. It was originally framed. It depicts a large and wonerfully drawn tree worked heavily in delicate silk chenille thread. There is a date of 22 Sept on the tree trunk and a cornucopia filled with flowers worked oin ribbonwork at the base of the tree. A hand painted lakeside village is to the right of the tree.
The condition is mostly good, some marks and holes round the edges where it was originally framed, some foxing/slight marking to the velvet background and fading/watermarking to the painted lakeside village, see photos.
It could be re-framed, a stunning and unusual example.
The panel measures about 24″ by 19" or 61 cms by 19 cms.Thank you for looking.
