Very rare plates with even a rarer backstamp. 6 fish plates made ca. 1895 by the Wick China Co. Founded by John Wick in 1894, and destroyed by a storm in 1914. Finding Wick China is difficult and when found usually has a backstamp with 2 horses. This backstamp is Imperial Porcelain, the intertwined WC and warranted. All backstamps are the same. The plates picture fish that would have been caught in the Allegheny River and it\'s tributaries. There is Catfish, Trout, Pike, 4 different fish scenes. The plant was located on this river. No nicks or chips. No repairs. Nothing glued. There is some age crazing, very tight hairlines of various lengths but all are short, not going from edge to edge, gold wear on the plate edges, and a small area of discoloration on the back of 1 plate. There is nothing that you would not expect to find on plates approximately 120 years old. Found at an estate sale. Each measures approximately 9 1/4\" in diameter. The plates are heavy so shipping is expensive.
