A VERY RARE ANTIQUE RELIQUARY CROSS , NORTHERN FRANCE , 18TH. CENTURYThis Reliquary Cross was made in France in the 18th. Century . ( most probably in the North of France because the Reliquary was purchased in the Rouen region ,where it was part of a sale of the contents of a Monastery .)
The Cross is made of boxwood or fruitwood .
The Cross contains 14 Relics and 1 tiny earthenware Madonna .
The small \" windows \" in front of the Relics are made of Mica (Mica is a mineral name given to a group of minerals that are physically and chemically similar. They are all silicate minerals, known as sheet silicates because they form in distinct layers. Micas are fairly light and relatively soft, and the sheets and flakes of mica are flexible . Mica sheets were often used as windows for stoves , lanterns etc . )Some of the MICA windows were missing but I managed to find a few small Mica sheets to replace the missing windows . I will add some extra mica sheets with the Cross .

CONSIDERING ITS AGE ( MORE AS 250 YEARS OLD ! ! ) THE CROSS IN A GOOD CONDITION .some small missing pieces of wood on the edges below , visible on the pictures .Only a few of the twisted fabric \" threads \" around the Relics have survived .
