This listing is for an antique pink lustreware plate, 8\" in diameter and hand painted. The design is of a windmill in a landscape. I am not an expert on these, but I researched it, and to the best of my knowledge, this is an English pink lustreware plate from the early 19th century, possibly circa 1820 - 1840. I am saying this based on the style matching others from that period. Also, it appears to be \"soft paste,\" because it is opaque when held up to light. The slightly blue color, where the clear glaze is thicker in places like around the edge of the foot, also gives a clue to the age.This type of pottery is made by using a small amount of gold in the firing to achieve the color. There is no signature on the back, so I\'m not certain whether this is Sunderland, Staffordshire, or some other pottery.
This is an antique plate and it does have some issues, the most significant being a hairline crack, visible at the bottom of the design where the plate starts to curve. This crack can also be seen on the back.
