Early 19th century lot of 2 Spode New Stone plates Bang-Uppattern

This sale is for twoplates circa 1805-1820. According to Godden’s Encyclopedia of British Pottery andPorcelain Marks, this impressedmark, SPODES NEW STONE, was used by the factory in Stoke-on-Trent(Staffordshire, England) between 1805-1820.The hand painted “3504” red mark on one of the plates designates thepattern as “Bang-Up”. “Bang-Up” is an Asian-inspired pattern with stylizedflowers and butterflies. On theseplates, it is blue transfer with over-glaze enamels in iron red and gold. It is interesting to note that the plate onthe left, the one that has the red “3504” mark on the back, has more goldenameling than the other plate. They bothmeasure about 8” in diameter.

Condition: The plate on the left has two small rimchips about an inch apart from each other.The plate on the right has one rim chip. There is also some light use wear to thesurface of the plates.
