Good afternoon from Congers, NY. I have been incredibly busy these last few weeks, and I\'m trying to keep ahead of the large pile of items that is overwhelming me. I will get back to sports stuff later this week, for now, a lovely silver item.
Unusual and early (1854-1869) Tiffany & Co. sterling silver pap boat or invalid feeder. It is appx. 5 5/8\" long from end to end. Relatively utilitarian, but a nice beaded edge and a nice finger shaped handle. 2.06 Oz Troy no monogram or monogram removal. Straight and right. A few minor black spots that may or may not polish out. A few tiny age related dents to the handle, nothing significant.
Marked on the base with a complicated Tiffany mark (see photos). \"Tiffany & Co/ 656/ English Sterling/ 925-1000/ 4561/ 550 Broadway\". Marked with large gothic \"M\" on either side, for J. C. Moore & Sons.
I imagine this ends up with a Civil War collector or something similar, but maybe one of you antique Tiffany silver guys will take a shine to it. In any event, here to sell. s, no games, opens at $9.76 lets see where it goes. High buyer at end of sale owns it.
