This very small figurine is an extremelycollectiblePiece of Royal Doulton dating to 1932, From what we could work out it is among the first of the Polly Peachum figures and it is appropriately marked. The markingsseparatethis figure from the many other Lesley Harridine issues that were created around the Beggars Opera.This Very Early Editioncharacter figurine by Royal Doulton, is made from Fine English Bone china. The character of \"Polly Peachum\" is the inn keeper\'s daughter in the famous 1728 Beggar\'s Opera. The figurine measures at what you see in the last 2 images on our listing. Polly stands in a curtsy pose and is hand painted, please note that we are offering this Item in its original hairline cracked form we have not altered anything and no restoration attempts haveoccurred, we will leave this up to your discretion. The item in undamaged form would fetch a price around 900 Pounds sterling/ 1400 USD. This is what is listed. A marvelous and highly prized item.
From the front This figurine is Great she looks fantastic unfortunately We think she got water inside and developed hairlines from the opening at the bottom, One of the hairlines runs up the back of the figure starting very fine from the base then widening to the hips and then extremely fine to the top of the back portion, please see all images. We decided not to have her restored as this is a matter of preference.The only damage is this Hairline up the back and what you see in the photos on the base, there is no other damage at all only this. The number 5 and other markings tell us that this figure was of the first of them in the art Deco period of 1932 and there are other stamps like B.P. and a Number 5 next to the Doulton stamp....The book value of this Item in mint condition is around 900 British pounds/$1400.
