This was recovered by SCUBA from the guys at RecoveringRelics.com!

This amphora was found in silty mud in a location where there is documented history of very early settlers and Spanish trade. This is an incredible find, as this dates to around 1600ad. I have been told this is most likely a Spanish olive jar, Type C of Earthenware, which was sealed with string and a fabric coated with wax and animal fat. The darker shade is what was exposed to the water, and the cleaner side is what was buried in the silt. The dark stain/build up should wash off, but I didn\'t want to clean it as it is historically significant.

The last picture is from Pottery from Spanish Shipwrecks 1500-1800 by Mitchell W. Marken. I highlighted the ones it looks closest to.

This has no visible damage at all! The shape around the lip is all as made, and there are no cracks or chips. This is as intact as it was the day it entered the water! Only a handful of these have been found in the US, outside of government divers, and Mel Fishers crew.

This really belongs in a museum, but I wanted to entertain offers and see what the world has to say about this awesome find. Please make an offer!!
