You are offerding on one new 46mm NVA Fallschirmjäger / Paratrooper ceramic poker chip. This is a great collectable tribute to the East German 40th Paratrooper Battalion / Air Assault Regiment. The front side of the chip features the iconic East German Parachute Badge with Serial #1, all on a background of rain pattern camouFlage. Around the edge is the unit designation in German as well the traditions name “Willi Sänger” granted to the unit in 1969.On the reverse of the chip in the outline of East Germany overlaid with the East German Flag with the names of the two locations the unit served; first Prora on the Baltic island of Rügen and later at Lehnin near Potsdam. To the left is an orange open parachute which represents the East German Paratrooper branch and color. The open parachute was also worn on the collar tabs of the paratrooper uniform. From top to bottom are the four designations that the unit had over the course of its 38 years of service from 1962 to 1990; FJB-5 = 5th Parachute Battalion, FJB-2 = 2nd Parachute Battalion, FJB-40 = 40th Parachute Battalion and LStR-40 = 40th Air Assault Regiment. And in German at the top of the chip is the unit’s motto, “From Heaven to the Earth into Battle”.
